BIO
Ø Graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1969,
earning a degree in business administration.
Ø 24-year veteran and retired Major of the Baltimore City Police
Department:
§ Major and District Commander of the Southeastern District (Fells
Point, Canton, Highlandtown, Little Italy).
§ Started as a beat Police Officer. Promoted to Sergeant and served with the helicopter
unit.
§ Advanced to the rank of Lieutenant in the homicide division.
§ Strong community involvement
Ø Prior to joining Hopkins, served as a security consultant to the Hopkins East Baltimore medical campus, developing a widely used series of crime awareness seminars for Hopkins staff. His knowledge of, and involvement with, neighborhood organizations and crime-presentation programs is a hallmark of Koffenberger’s anti-crime philosophy.
Ø Joined the Johns Hopkins security team in 1994 as the director
of External Security for the East Baltimore campus.
Ø In 2002 was appointed Sr. Director of Corporate Security which,
by then, included oversight of Bayview
Security, Howard County General Hospital Security, and parking and transportation
operations for the East Baltimore campus.
Ø Named VP of Corporate Security in June 2006.
